Time Line of Tool King:
1978: Tool King began as a small retail store in Denver, Colorado, selling hammers and power tools to craftsman and do-it-yourselfers. After realizing that there was a high demand for such products, Tool King opened a chain of stores throughout Colorado.
1983: Tool King began gaining national exposure and was recognized as an Inc 500 Company for three successive years.
1987: Tool King was on their way to achieving national growth and opened six stores in Colorado and three in Wisconsin.
2001: Tool King launched ToolKing.com.
2003: Tool King combined all the retail stores into one 10,000 square-foot superstore in Lakewood, Colorado. ToolKing.com built efficient fulfillment and distribution systems based on a single warehouse and a network of drop shippers.
2004: ToolKing.com is voted Top 50 Best of the Web by Internet Retailer.
2005: ToolKing.com began exploring different trade channels and established a partnership with Amazon.com. At this time, ToolKing.com began operating on a .NET platform.
2006: ToolKing.com is recognized as a Top 500 Retailer by Internet Retailer in addition to the Top 28th fastest growing e-commerce company.
February 2007: ToolKing.com launches two new specialty sites.
- Toologics.com brings online social networking to professional builders and do-it-yourselfers. At Toologics.com, tool users have access to useful articles and reviews. This live platform enables us to observe our customers' interaction and customize our business to suit their needs.
- TKRecon.com is a specialized tool store of factory-reconditioned tools that offer up to 40% savings on tools by top brand name manufacturers.
July 2007: ToolKing.com launches a brand-new e-store that's faster and easier to use. The new site incorporates advanced search capabilities and a more user-friendly interface that offers customers a quick and efficient shopping experience. The new site also has a significantly faster download time, a new shopping cart with a single-page checkout, as well as features that offer product suggestions.
