Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house... (Wait, wait... let me start over). Twas the day after Christmas, when the sun was fully up, Santa was seen and finally caught - on tape. Santa was having back problems and couldn't finish his deliveries before Christmas. We caught it on tape and this was how Tool King saved Christmas:
Merry Christmas Everyone!

It's the thought that counts. Have you ever heard of that line after receiving a gift you had no use for? So how do you tell if the thoughts behind a gift were time consuming, well analyzed thoughts? If the gift was considered to be: something you need, something of your interest, or something expensive?
If it was just something you need, could it be a new pair of socks? I mean everyone needs a pair of new socks at some point, right? If it was something of your interest (let's say it was NASCAR), would a small $.99 NASCAR toy car be a well thought gift? I believe as we get older, putting more thought into a gift usually means, have you thought long enough about how much money you're willing to spend on a gift.
Although, kids probably don't analyze how much thought was put into a gift, I believe kids probably appreciate gifts more than anyone else. The younger, the more appreciative. Some of you with kids are probably thinking, 'this guy probably doesn't have any kids.' Let me give you an example: My girlfriend went shopping for a Halloween costume for her little brother and bought him this cheap army costume. Price tag was around $5 and it consisted of a Rambo plastic knife, compass, and a plastic camo shirt that could make a one year old imitate Hulk Hogan ripping his yellow shirt off.
I was skeptical, "Are you sure your little brother is going to like this?" She assured me he's going to love it. I would have not believed it if I wasn't there when we gave him his costume. His face lit up and with a similar low voice like Patrick from Sponge Bob, he said, "Wow....cool!"
In my last post, I had given you a list of gift ideas for adults, but had left out kids (the ones that would appreciate their gift). The gift is not needed by any kid or is it expensive, but I believe it will definitely bring out the amazement of a kid.
The Wilmar W5600 17 Piece Kids Tool Set comes with a hard hat, gloves, safety goggles, hammer, saw, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, pipe wrench, tape measurer, flashlight, C-Clamp, play wood, nut and bolt, and tool belt. Kids will love helping Dad complete projects with this tool set. It's only $12.99 and you can buy it now by going to ToolKing.com. It'll make a great gift for any kid out there.

"Time and again in the 100 profiles of leading online retailers in this issue there are examples of innovations that go beyond the primary web site," as stated in Internet Retailer's Hot 100 December issue. I am proud to announce that ToolKing.com made it on Internet Retailer's Hot 100 Retail Web Sites.
"Tool King has a huge inventory and it's very easily navigable. They've done a really good job of implementing page-based navigation, which makes it easier to find the information you need. It looks like a construction site - it's the right look for the people who shop there."
This is quite an achievement for ToolKing.com and is a clear indicator of the popularity and awareness of our program. This could not have been accomplished without all your help. So on behalf of the team here at ToolKing.com, we would just like to thank all our affiliate partners.

"We think we would be a great fit for your campaign, however, we need a few specific banner sizes that are not currently offered with your campaign. Would it be possible to create a 300x250 banner?"
"Yes we can," I replied. Now that I have taken over the responsibility to create the daily deal banners, I took it upon myself to create a 300x250 banner as well. I'm going to be honest with you, before this I have never worked with Photoshop.
I created the banner in hopes of accomplishing two things:
- Branding
- Call to Action
Once I have decided which message I would like to get across, the next step was to create a call to action. A call to action button will simply point your customer in the direction you want to lead them. Using words that prompt the user to take immediate action such as "Click Here", "Visit Now", and "Shop Now" will increase your click through rate and conversion rate.
The banner above was the final product. It's just something very simple, but hopefully it'll have accomplished the purpose of my original intent. I remind all our affiliate partners in every newsletter we send out, but if you need a customize banner in any size, don't hesitate to contact me. We have a great team here at Tool King that are very knowledgeable in Photoshop (incase you were discouraged by my banner above).

One of the best tools for affiliates just recently got better. AvantLink made some significant changes to the Affiliate Link Encoder tool that they released a year ago. If you own a blog or forum and haven’t put this tool to use, I highly recommend using it today. For those that already has it implemented, you don’t have to change a thing. It is full backwards-compatibility with the original version of the tool.
Here are the improvements AvantLink have listed on AvantLink's Blog:
- The ALE now supports the encoding of plain text (a.k.a. “keyword encoding”) in your page content. Previously, only pre-existing direct links such as www.toolking.com would be converted to affiliate tracking links. Now, it’s possible to configure the ALE to not even require an existing direct link to the merchant: instead, it can operate simply on the mention of the merchant.
- Now you may be thinking: “What about all of my pre-existing links - I don’t want those rewritten!“ Don’t worry, we’re not going to completely mangle your page: keywords that appear inside existing links are left alone.
- With keyword encoding turned on, the ALE will (by default) automatically look for the name or URL of any of your active merchants in page content, and turn those into trackable links. You can override this default behavior by choosing which, if any, merchants should be encoded for a given ALE deployment.
- You can also specify completely custom keyword/key-phrase associations to encode.
- You can even specify certain pieces of text that should not be encoded as affiliate links; some people call these skip-words.
- We’ve added the ability to specify some CSS/formatting for your encoded links. Built-in options include adding a “title” tag of “This is an affiliate ad link.”, a double-underline format, or even specifying a custom CSS class name to use for all of the links. You can mix & match these options too, to further customize your setup.
- Lastly, when you use the ALE tool now you actually create a subscription/configuration entry. This allows you to make changes to your ALE deployment without going back through all of your pages to update the javascript include. It also allows some more advanced reporting on our end, such as which of your ALE subscriptions a particular click-through or sale resulted from; for keyword encoding our reports will even show which word or phrase was clicked on, leading to a particular sale.
To get started, just go to the “Tools” page of your affiliate account and click on “Create a new ALE subscription”. You'll wonder how you ever managed your blog/forum without this tool.

Election Day is just around the corner. On Tuesday, November 4th, everyone is expecting for the biggest turnout in many decades. My little nephew in elementary even gave me his opinion on who should be president because of what's going on in the economy. What? Shouldn't you be running around or playing on your PS3? That was when I realized how much attraction this election has - even little kids are paying attention. No matter who you vote for, McCain or Obama, I hope everyone that is registered to vote will make it out there this year.
Tool King has a coupon code that is valid until Election Day, November 4th. You can take $15 off an order of $250 or more. Just enter coupon code "VOTE" when you checkout.

Been meaning to read a book on SEO techniques, but never got around to it because you are the type that would rather watch a movie than read the book? With the ease of hosting videos on sites like YouTube, videos of all sorts are being uploaded now. The first feature-length film, "Princess of Nebraska" directed by Wayne Wang, premiered for free on YouTube just a few weeks ago. No longer will your video stay buried on YouTube waiting for visitors, now you will have users searching channels that are meaningful to your concept. We want to help promote and foster the education of our industry through the sharing of ideas.
If you want to learn simple SEO techniques through watching a video instead of reading, share video tutorials, ask questions via webcam, share news on search engines, or just network with the internet marketing community, be sure to visit IMBroadcast.com.

The gas station we filled up in Tracy, Minnesota before leaving did seem rather odd. An apprehensive greasy old man, dressed in a mechanic's suit named Bob came out to fill our gas tank. We didn't want to make any stops, but we were thankful they were opened even at 2 in the morning. After Bob was done, he walked over to the window to collect the money. It got eerily quiet, the windows started to creak and cry trying to prevent itself from rolling down.
Bob murmured something through his jittery chapped lips. "You have to speak up," as I made some gestures to let him know that I couldn't hear him. He murmured again. "How much...?" I asked. With his old tiresome fist and arm, he started making circular motions asking me to roll down the window a little more. I hesitated, but went against my will. Before I knew it, his hands had grabbed me by the collar and with brute force I was up against the half opened window that was trying to tell me something. He then leaned his head in and whispered into my ears, "save 5% on your next order over $99 at ToolKing.com with coupon code SPOOKY."

What good if you should gain everything in this world, only to be left with the universe to go. It's true that the earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed. Don't let us be the many that goes fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
Do you know that if you make a little more than $2 a day, you are making more money than almost half of the world's population? Do you know that 4 out of 10 people in this world don't even have access to a latrine? Do you know that more than 800 million people go to bed hungry every day? Do you know that more than 26,000 children under the age of 5 die every day due to preventable poverty, disease, and hunger? Do you know that every 3.6 seconds, someone dies of starvation?
Many will never lighten any load until they feel the pressure in their own soul:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten

I want you to travel back into time and draw up any memory that reminds you of something that was cool, powerful, and green. If you were thinking of the Incredible Hulk, fast forward the time line just a little bit more. Swamp Thing? Only one memory crosses my mind when it comes to the Swap Thing: a green thing on TV from a glance, while running outside on my flip-flop sandals to go shoot marbles with my cousins. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I was pretty good at drawing the oval faces and six (or was it eight packs?) of the talking ninja turtles.
Let's just go back to a few months ago. Back in July, I sent our newsletter with a promotion of Free Shipping on the new and advanced Festool Kapex KS 120 EB Sliding Compound Miter Saw 561287. Free Shipping is still available, but now you will have to use Coupon Code TKSAVEGAS (Free Ground Shipping on orders over $75).
Festoolusa.com states, "The Kapex is the most advanced sliding compound miter saw in the market today. In the hands of a carpenter, this saw will make cuts that rival the finest trim work being done today. Engineered to be lightweight and compact, the KS 120 is the perfect saw for the workshop or the jobsite. Effective dust extraction, precise cuts, easy adjustments, and quality components are some of the features that should make this saw the number one choice of professional tradesmen."
For those that aren't too familiar with Festool, they are the high-end premium priced products in the tool arena. Price is not the only thing that differentiates Festool, but their commitment also sets them apart in the industry. Their product developers visit woodworking shops throughout the world to see what real workers need. Power tools are then designed to eliminate or combine steps, tighten tolerances, improve accuracy, and help tradesmen deliver a superior finished product.
If money is not an issue at this time, the Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw is worth every penny of $1,300 at ToolKing.com.

We’re in the middle of this insane financial crisis… the worst since the Great Depression, according to some folks. Stocks are tanking, credit is evaporating, and there is talk of a partial nationalization of some banks.
The way I see it, affiliate marketers have two options right now: curl up in the fetal position and moan or put that entrepreneur hat on good and tight and kick some ass.
It’s survival of the affiliate fittest and some players will fall away. Will you choose to be a victim or a victor?
These days remind me of Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities…
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
I don’t know about you, but I am not putting up the white flag just because the talking heads on the news say the sky is falling.
I’m going to work smarter and focus on expanding business while others cringe and retract.
Here is another bit of wisdom to put it all in perspective. It’s part of the keynote address from Cory Booker at Affiliate Summit East 2008…
“You all are here to try to advance your businesses, to try to advance your families. Those are all good things. But, don’t lose the larger context in which we all operate. Don’t shrink your vision of yourself. Understand that you are here for a purpose. There is no mistaking this moment. In this moment and the ones that will follow, you will have the opportunity to unleash yourself unto the world. You have the possibility and the potential to be one of those Americans that truly creates a revolution; a revolution in kindness, a revolution in love, a revolution in vision, and a revolution in imagination.”
What are you doing… get back to work. It’s crunch time!

This is really breaking news. I have received an encouraging email from our lawyer’s office in regards to action on the federal level. Last week Mr. Jim Bunning, a Senator from Kentucky introduced a bill that would eliminate affiliates from the definition of physical presence within a state. If it were to pass, this would mean that states would be prohibited from taxing out of state merchants if the only revenue sharing connection are affiliates.
While still in the very early stages, there is an encouraging sign. Having a sponsor is important, and there is a sponsor for the bill, Mr Bunning. The bill was read twice, as required, and was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. The bill number is S. 3670
Melanie Seery encourages all affiliates to contact their senators. For more information on the tax law and how you can contact your senator, you can visit her site at NYAffiliateVoice.

How much easier it could have been, if you only had the right tool for the job. Check out this funny video from Toologics.com - Funny Beer and Power Tool Video for Oktoberfest on the importance of having the right tool for the job.
As Winston Churchill said, "Give us the tools and we will finish the job."

"All the candy corn that was ever made was made in 1911," as comedian Lewis Black discovers. It's love or loathing when it comes to the king of Halloween candy. Surprisingly, around 20 million pounds of candy corn are sold each year according to National Confectioners Association.
While doing a quick search on Google.com, I came across an article that states candy corn can make kids more intelligent. Instead of just filling kids up with sugar, corn syrup and honey (prime ingredients), you can use it to teach kids the shape and colors of the candy. This explains why there are still so many candy corn left from 1911.
For our sale this week, the candy corn colors can help your customers save money. At the top of the candy corn, WHITE (spend $800 and get $40 Off & Free Shipping). In the middle, ORANGE (spend $500 and get $20 Off & Free Shipping). At the bottom of the candy corn, YELLOW (spend $200 and get Free Shipping). The coupon codes are only valid until October 12, 2008.
Do you love it or loathe it?

"Buzz is not hype and hype is not buzz," stated in an article of Entertainment Weekly by Stephen King. Some of the difference Stephen King points out between buzz and hype in the article are:
Buzz is Free. Hype is paid for.
Buzz is reliable. Hype is unreliable.
Buzz starts long before hype.
Good buzz is kind of like the Energizer Bunny, it can keep on going. It can travel from mouth to ear, to blog, to text message, and the cycle can be on self repeat for a while. Video marketing has been a buzz on the internet for a few years now (as I’m sure you’ve already heard).
I have written about Affiliate Video Marketing earlier this year and have read numerous affiliate industry leaders blog about video being the future of banner ads. We first rolled out the video program in September of 2007, but didn’t really start moving until February of this year.
With the success of our video program, we have decided to dedicate a page strictly for our in-house videos: ToolKing.tv. Our videos have over 100,000+ views already (as of last month) and believe that number will only continue to increase at a faster rate. One significant thing to note - completed views on YouTube only counts if the whole video was watched.
I believe this will be a valuable site for not only our customers, but our affiliate partners as well. You can now easily find videos on the products you would like to promote and embed it onto your website. It's also very easy to embed a YouTube video on your site along with your integrated affiliate tracking code. Click here to read on how you can integrate your affiliate tracking code along with our original tool videos. That was easy, right? Now go to ToolKing.tv and embed your video today.

So... how about them Broncos? I'm not really sure how to start this post, even though I had just read on a blog about how to write an introduction. One of the tips given on how to start off an introduction is to ask a good question. I know my question will probably not engage the readers to intellectually analyze, 'how are the Denver Broncos?' It won't develop any real response nor stir any emotions (unless you're a true Broncos fan), but aren't those Broncos good this year? =) Whether you're a Broncos fan or not, I think everyone can enjoy what Tool King has to offer this weekend.
Tool King does have more coupons for this weekend as the Denver Broncos are getting ready to play the New Orleans Saints. These coupons are valid only until Monday, September 22nd.

I look forward to seeing your sales drop in while seeing the Broncos record move up to 3-0.

Increase your conversion rate with a clear call to action phrase(s). One of the reasons why traffic doesn't convert to customers is because there was no call to action. Continue to read for more information on call to action.
Your customer is ready to buy a product, but they want to know what they need to do next. I've been to a few websites where I was interested in a product/service, but had no clue on what to do next: no phone number, no where to click, nothing! If you search long enough, in a hidden "secret" page, you'll finally come across a phone number or a link on how you can obtain the product. There are customers that will probably never make it to the hidden "secret" page.
This is the main reason why PopShops has recently added a "Buy" button. A call to action button simply points your customer in the right direction (where you want to lead them). For example, if you want the customer to read more information about the product, you would add a "More Info" button. For the call to action "Buy" button, you are letting the customer know that if they are interested in buying the product they can click on the "Buy" button.
If you haven't already signed up with PopShops to create a Tool King store, you can sign up for a free basic account at PopShops.com. The other great thing about creating a store with PopShops is that you have the option of adding your affiliate tracking code with either your Commission Junction, ShareASale, or LinkConnector affiliate id.
Add a custom "Buy" button for your store with PopShops:
- Click into your Styles editor in the "Customize" tab
- Check the "Add a button" checkbox
- Type the text you want on your button
- Save and close

One of the best ways to get free traffic to your site is through article marketing. It's absolutely free, but can be costly in terms of time. You have to work and put some effort and time into writing the article to make it relevant, keyword rich, interesting to keep the readers attention, 400-500 words, and proofread for spelling and grammar.
Making your article original and relevant enough that others will use it on their website will make your time consuming effort pay off in the long run. Once your article is used by others with a backlink, search engines will also find the content on your page relevant. The other benefit is that you can also use the article for content on your website. However, you will need to make some small tweaks to make it a little different before you can post it on your site or submit the article. For articles on products that Tool King carries, writing an informative article on the product is probably the best way to go.
Evelyn Grazini believes these are the top Ezine directories where you can submit your articles:

Although it's going to be sad not being able to sweat for a while, one good thing does come with cold weather: Fantasy Football! The NFL kicked off the 89th season on September 4th with the New York Giants vs. Washington Red Skins.
The American Bullies (my team) vs. African Honey Badgers was supposed to be a blow out. I was projected to lose, but as Forrest Gump saying goes, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Tom Brady would receive a serious knee injury that would take him out of the game/season, giving the African Honey Badgers only 3 points.
With Tom Brady out of the game, the American Bullies would lead in points throughout Sunday. While all the African Honey Badgers are finished playing their games, the American Bullies still has one more player to go with the Denver Broncos Kicker, Matt Prater. No matter how many fantasy points Matt Prater generates, the American Bullies will still come out on top.
When I win, I like to share. For a limited time, Tool King's Football Sale:
